ITANAGAR: Aug 4.: The principal, staff members of Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA) and students condoled the untimely death of Bijoy Kalita, Junior Teacher, GSS Manhofai, Lohit.
He died this morning at GMC Guwahati after prolonged illness.
In a condolence meeting at GHSS Namsai, they observed silence for a few minutes as a mark of respect to late Kalita and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
He is survived by his wife and a son.
He joined Education Department in the year 1987. During his tenure he has served at different Schools of Lohit District dedicatedly.

ITANAGAR, Aug 4: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tawang organized a training programme for extension functionaries at Potato Godown Lumberdung.
Altogether, 10 extension functionaries (A.F.A) participated in the programme.

Govt suspends selling of state lottery
NAHARLAGUN, Aug 4: In exercise of power conferred under section of lottery Regulation Act. 1998, the State Govt. has suspended marketing/ selling of Arunachal Pradesh State lottery both on line and conventional paper lottery from August One.
“It is learnt that some people are illegally conducting/marketing draws of lottery in the name of the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Department of State Lotteries in some states,” the notification said and disowned the responsibility of such lotteries.

Dorjee relinquishes charges
ITANAGAR: Rinchin Dorjee relinquished his charges as chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission on successful completion of six years term today. Rinchin joined the APPSC on May 18, 1999 as a member and was appointed as chairman on Aug 5, 2005.
Meanwhile, the members, officers and staff of the Commission organized a farewell meeting in honour of the outgoing chairman Rinchin Dorjee today and congratulated him for his successful completion of service as APPSC chairman.

ITANAGAR, Aug 4: State Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin today cautioned that Govt will strictly deal with bandh callers from henceforth.
Addressing the media persons here today on completion of three months in the office, Gamlin said state govt will follow Supreme Court order while dealing with bandh culture.
“Supreme Court has banned bandh and has declared it illegal. We have been tolerating bandh as we don’t want to clamp down hard on our own youths. But from now onward we will follow Supreme Court guidelines and will strictly deal with all these bandh callers who harass ordinary citizens,” stated CM Gamlin.

3 militants surrender in Tirap

He added that the return of these cadres to the mainstream is an indicator of the fact that efforts of the security forces are bearing dividends.
The sustained and continuous counter insurgency operations launched by 19 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 25 Sector Assam Rifles coupled with the psychological initiatives motivated these terrorists to shed the path of violence and join the national mainstream. Most of these youths had fallen to the false Robinhood image of terrorist and were recruited by force, it said.
Today’s ceremony is a landmark event and clearly depicts the changed perception of the youth and their desire to be part of the society and national mainstream. The entire process of motivating the cadres and sensitizing them has been a joint effort of Security Forces with the district police. The synergy between 19 Assam Rifles and Tirap district Police has been instrumental in the successful surrender of these cadres, the AR release said.
It is worth mentioning that more cadres belonging to various insurgent groups want to surrender but due to lack of surrender policy in the state of Arunachal Pradesh they are hesitant to come forward. The state government must consider the need of surrender policy to reform the militants who are willing to lay down arms and join the mainstream, the release said.
Comdt 19 Assam Rifles emphasized on the commitment of Security Forces towards rehabilitation of the misguided youths. ITANAGAR Aug 4 : “The State Government is doing all out effort to ensure that each and every child of the State gets proper and compulsory education,” asserted Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin while addressing a huge gathering of teachers and school children here at Banquet Hall on the State Level function to mark the distribution of free textbooks and uniforms to elementary school students under Right to Education Act 2009.
“It is time that we seriously think of improving the literacy rate of our state which stands 2nd last in state wise category,” he paused while appealing the Education Department to recollect their energy to sail the state to the top position. He rests the onus to the teachers and students to dedicatedly pursue the goal of education so as to take Arunachal Pradesh and the nation to new heights.
The Chief Minister observed that this initiative of providing incentives to the poor and needy students will reduce the rate of school dropouts and boost the never enrolled children to attend schools which will automatically increase the literacy rate.
While categorically alarming the teaching community over the growing absenteeism in the schools, Gamlin called upon them to rededicate their devotion towards education in order to improve its quality. Describing the students as the future of the state as well as the nation, Gamlin emphasized for shouldering the responsibility to build a strong and educative nation in the days to come. AARCA pleads for tender process under horti department
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: All Arunachal Registered Contractors Association (AARCA) has appealed the director of horticulture department to award works to the eligible firm or contractors through open tender as per norms.
In a representation to horticulture director, the Association said the horticulture department should introduce tender process in construction and supply works in order to maintain transparency and quality work.

ITANAGAR, Aug 4: State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Arunachal Pradesh conducted

Inaugurating the programme, Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu said that the novel initiative of Lab to Land of Ministry of Rural Development has the potential to revolutionize the development paradigm in the pilot blocks and present a replicable model for people centric development.
Citing the importance of Lab to Land programme, he said that by ensuring success of the programme in the pilot block of Doimukh, the programme could then be extended to other blocks in the pilot district with assistance from Govt of India.

He said that Ministry of Rural Development is giving emphasis on proper implementation of the initiative and assured all support of SIRD for all need based training interventions under the initiative.

ITANAGAR, Aug 4: The All Capital Complex Citizen Tribal Right Forum has criticized elected representatives of the state including PWD and UD Minister Nabam Tuki and Assembly Deputy Speaker Tapang Taloh accusing them of staying in Delhi when their presence is required for the welfare of the state and its people.
The People’s representatives, including few MLAs and parliamentary secretaries are absenting from their respective headquarters and the state capital for weeks and months together and staying in Delhi when the state was finding it difficult to cope with the fury of floods and landslide, the Forum said.
The Forum further said the people’s representatives should resign on moral ground paving the way for the others if they are reluctant to serve the people of the state and prefer to stay in Delhi. The Forum appealed to the Governor and Chief Minister to take appropriate action against absentee representatives for failing to carry out their duties.

Of transport service
Dear Editor,
We know that most of the district headquarters of Arunachal Pradesh are connected with the state Capital Itanagar by the state transport service which is quite helpful for people of respective district headquarters. But we the citizens of Upper Subansiri district are facing difficulties as the state transport bus service ends at Naharlagun only.
As the transport service from Daporijo ends at Naharlagun, the students who are studying in college, school and University and staying at Itanagar are facing extra burden. Moreover, the Upper Subansiri patients who are referred to R K M Hospital and other hospital at Itanagar are also facing transportation problems to reach Itanagar.
Many a times students residing in Itanagar are facing tough time as it is difficult to reach Naharlagun early morning to board up Daporijo bound state transport.
Therefore, I on behalf of the citizens of Daporijo, earnestly request the transport authority to look into the problems. And also request the MLAs, panchayat leaders and pressure group to look into our grievances.

We the depressed PG with B. Ed holders of both Commerce and Geography subjects would
like to highlight the back-
We came to know that as many 16 numbers of STs (Senior Teachers) in subject like Commerce and Geography have been appointed during Sept 2010 without conducting interview and undermining the existing Recruitment Rules. The Education Department still follows illegal method of recruitment and the appointments were done purely on the basis of favoritism and nepotism. If we allow such malpractice especially in recruitment of teachers, one can never expect of quality education in our state in near future.
We would like to question the authority concern on what basis all those l6 STs have been appointment? Why STs (Commerce) have been posted where there is no Commerce stream in a particular Higher Secondary School? Moreover, it has been observed that since 2009 onwards, there was no open advertisement of ST’s post for recruitment except recent advertisement but there is no single vacancy for Commerce and Geography.
We urged the authority concern to cancel all the appointment orders and make immediate advertisement for fresh recruitment and also earnestly request the Education Minister to issue necessary directives and guidance in this regard, otherwise, we compel to agitate for our democratic right.
We would also like to appeal NGOs, especially PG with B.Ed holders of both Commerce and Geography to raise voice and All Arunachal Pradesh Unemployed Trained Teachers’ Association has also been requested to intervene in this matter.
